Is recommended to use for 7 year old room closet

I'm not sure I understand the question. I don't think it is an unsafe product. I have string curtains in 3 different rooms of my house. But, you would need a couple of these to cover the doorway properly. They are nice, they just don't have as many string as some do but they are also cheaper so.....

Sure,we suggest handwash without bleach and dry with nature .Thanks

I am looking for something easy to hang in my doorway without buying a rod, would i be able to nail this up? or ise extra hardware necessary?

Yes! We used little nails- u can't see them. No other hardware !

Can the top be cut to make it less wide?

You can bunch it up to make it less wide. You probably can cut it too.
