Turtle Beach Recon 50 Wired Multiplatform Gaming Headset for Xbox, PS5, PC

For this price point, I can't say anything less than 5 stars for this headset. I was originally going to go with a different product until seeing that the Ear Force Recon 50(X) series, was to release on 9/25/15. I decided to give it a try, and figured why not. For $40 it seemed like a steal! For the most part, it is a steal. PROS: --The headset itself is good looking, at first I thought the green would be a little off-putting compared to the color of my other accessories and peripherals, but it actually looks really great. Of course, this part is subjective. --Very lightweight. This thing only weighs a few ounces, and other than the light sensation of the cups on your ears, you could not even know you have it on. --The mic is detachable, which is awesome. --Further, the mic sounds great. It picks up my voice with a pretty good clarity for an entry-level gaming headset, and the attached covering of the mic essentially works as a pop filter. In fact, I have a fan blowing right by me and it manages to cancel the vast majority of the wind rushing into it from the fan. Solid mic. --The sound is pretty good. Bass and highs are on par for this price point, with the mids being the weakest link of the sound stage. For music and movies it is probably not the best choice, although it would still work more than adequately for those uses. Gaming is where it really shines, and the sound quality is more than good enough for my gaming needs. Footsteps are defined, gunshots and explosions sound great, and voices and dialog sound just fine. --Adaptability and Connectivity: It connects to the Xbox One controller that has the 3.5mm plug-in, and works on any Xbox One controller with the Turtle Beach or Microsoft headset adapter. My controller has the plug directly on it, so it works flawlessly without the need of an adapter. Further, it includes an adapter to change the mic/headphones to two separate plugs and I tested it on my PC and it works great for both sound and mic as well. Even though it is marketed as an Xbox One headset, it works just fine on PC and my iPhone. I don't have a PS4 to try it on, but I would imagine it would work just fine. CONS: --Like mentioned above, the sound is pretty much on par. Nothing special and certainly doesn't blow your mind with audio fidelity. However for this price range I can't imagine it gets much better. Mids could be a bit better with frequency range. --The cord is rather short. Granted, this model is targeted specifically towards the Xbox One, so plugging it into the controller with the cord length is more than enough, and nice because you don't have a huge bundle of cord on your lap when it is plugged into your controller. However, for use with a PC or other device you might need to purchase a 4 pole 3.5mm extension cable to make it a bit longer. I managed to find several on Amazon for a few bucks, so if this is a problem for you I would recommend going the extension cable route instead of disregarding this headset. OVERALL: I rated 5, but would probably give closer to a 4.5. For $40 (current price at time of writing, the day this headset has been released), it is a great deal. I am very happy with it, and use it as my main headset for my Xbox now, and a backup for my PC. Very comfortable, lightweight, sound is more than adequate in terms of quality, and it works with a multitude of devices. For gaming, it is just an all-around great entry-level headset.

We've purchased this headset a few times over the years. It's a good, solid headset for the price, and durable enough for younger users. We are a family of gamers, and we've owned all sorts of more expensive headsets as well, but for some reason even the most expensive ones haven't lasted as long. It's simple, comfortable and you cannot go wrong with Turtle Beach.

The headset itself is a little small. I don't have a giant head and I have to pull out the ear cups completely out to fit and it barely fits. Snug headset but not painful on ears. The band on top of the head isn't nearly as cushy as I would hope, and it comes down at a strange angle (near the back, not the top). The audio seems fine. Bass is good. The high ends seem a bit duller than i'm used to with previous headphones. Cancels noise fairly well. Excellent volume control and output. I don't use the mic portion yet.

The headset is very comfortable, it has great noise cancellation and looks great. We just upgraded to this one and we are very impressed. Very easy to set up and get connected.

These have been great. My son uses them all the time. If you have a kid that takes care of things they'll last...if you have a kid that just puts their stuff anywhere you'll need a few pairs in their gaming lifespan lol

I started using this immediately after it arrived and it works great. I had no issues with connectivity, it uses a standard jack for the audio. The music and voices are clear. The cord length is just right, not too close. I can't stand those three foot cords that keep my nose pressed against the screen. It is light weight and fits fine. I sometimes wear glasses and have not had an issue with that. Good purchase.

Sounds just OK, but real small and not at all comfortable. I would not recommend for anyone with a big head or big ears. OK for a woman or a teen, I guess. Not enough adjustment for an adult headset.

My original lasted more than 6 years without issues. Just ordered a new one after the plug physically wore down its own metal and stopped making contact with the jack properly. This is the Toyota Corolla of headsets and if taken care of, will never fail you.

These are really nice, they fit very comfortably and fit well around my ears, and the sound is fantastic!. I never used to wear Gaming Headphones but wear these all the time now on my Xbox, would definitely buy again if they ever broke, and having the detachable Mic is a good option.

Ich habe mir das Headset für meine PS4 gekauft, da mein altes ein On-Ear-Headset war und somit bei längeren Sessions unangenehm wurde. Meine Erfahrungen mit Turtle Beach waren bis jetzt immer sehr positiv und das hat sich auch bei diesem Produkt nicht geändert. Obwohl ich auf das verstärkte Stereo verzichtet habe, da ich wirklich nur gelegentlich spiele, finde ich, dass man trotzdem in den meisten Spielen (v.a. Ego-Shootern) trotzdem sehr gut ausmachen kann, wo ein gegnerischer Spieler sich befindet. Auch längere Gaming-Sessions sind damit möglich, da das Headset sehr weich und angenehm zu tragen ist. Das Over-Ear-Design trägt einen wesentlichen Teil zum Tragekomfort bei. Zum Mikrofon ist zu sagen, dass die Soundqualität besser ist, als bei so manchen €100 Headsets. Zudem kann man das Mikro ausstecken, wenn man es nicht braucht. Am Kabel ist ein Lautstärkeregler sowie ein Mute-Switch angebracht, was ich ideal finde, da man dadurch nicht immer zu den Einstellungen muss, um die Lautstärke zu verändern oder sein Mikrofon stumm zu schalten. Was ich besonders gut an den Ear Force Recon 50P finde ist, dass man einen normalen 3,5mm Kopfhöreranschluss hat, den man einfach am Controller ansteckt. Das macht es leichter, wenn man weiter von der Playstation sitzt oder wenn man sich kurz samt Controller bewegt. Außerdem stolpert niemand über ein Kabel zwischen Sofa und Fernseher. Des Weiteren konnte ich kein Audio-Delay feststellen, was dieses Headset umso besser macht. Für knapp €30 ist das meiner Meinung nach das beste Headset, dass man casual Gaming kaufen kann. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Have been using for a year now. Looks and feels new. Use it for gaming, listening to music, watching videos. Honestly have no issues, especially considering the price

Ich habe dieses Headset schon 2-Mal gekauft. Für mich eines der einfachsten, kostengünstigen und besten Headsets für die Xbox One und Series S/X , wenn die Preisleistung-Verhältnis betrachtet. Ich benutze das Headset für die Xbox One und die Series S Controller und ist kinderleicht anzuschließen. Die Lautstärke wird direkt über ein kleines Rädchen (ca. mittig am Kabel) steuern und dort ist einen Schieberegler für das Mikrofon zu Stumm machen oder wieder freigeben. Das Mikrophon ist abnehmbar. Die Kabellänge ist ausreichend, ca. 1,5m. Als Warehouse-Deals bei Amazon für ca. 10€ und ca. 15€ gekauft, würde ich jedes Mal wieder machen.
