Great product, especially for the price. (Seasoned gardener here) I bought this for three purposes, and it performed perfectly for all three. Just make sure to get your proportions right (you can overdo it, but thats kinda a good thing) 1) Indoor potting mid-layer moisture regulation - don’t put it in the top layer of soil, and fully hydrate it before adding the pant and topping up the soil 2) Outdoor soil remediation for hard-packed clay - lay it on & soak it, let it sit for two or three days to soften the clay, and then churn it in 3) Outdoor moisture retention for garden beds and hanging pots/baskets - cannot recommend enough. Cover it with soil to prevent direct sun evaporation + pair it with a slow drip feeder = next-level water retention (successfully grew high yield strawberries in 5x5x5 inch hanging pots, watering once a month)

I mixed these into my raised beds to help with drainage and water retention. We just recently had 100 degree days and I was able to go 48 hours without watering thanks to these. A little goes a LONG way, they get plenty big. You only need the little scoop it comes with per 20-30 sq ft. Don't over do it or they will push your plants out (ask me how I know- I did this in a couple places and had to replant because it popped out of the ground).

Love this product. I live in the Mojave Desert so this really helps in minimizing my watering.

This fluffs like jelly once watered. Seems to be helping existing grass in south west survive. Can get loose. Once found on pavement.. Called county Hazmat to report jelly rain.. No. Just this product escaping.

8 planted some new bushes outside in the ground. I mixed the water crystals in with the dirt around the root ball to make sure these young plants did not run out of water on the hot summer days. Bushes look great and survived the hot summer days

We purchase these crystals to use as water gel for insects. They are the exact same composition as the kind marketed specifically for insects, but at a much better price! This size crystal is the perfect size, and a little goes a LONG way. 1oz of crystals makes about 1-1.5 gallons of water gel, depending on how watery we make it, and as long as we keep the lid on the bucket, the crystals have excellent water retention. I highly recommend these crystals for insect water gel. We have been using them for this purpose for a couple of years now.

Works great. I use in conjunction with Terra cotta stakes & water bottles. We are in severe drought and need any additional help. ** Don’t over use! I put too much in a couple potted patio trees. The excess granules bulge up and tip over the trees!
