Buy Raspberry Pi User Guide 4 by Upton, Eben, Halfacree, Gareth (ISBN: 9781119264361) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Great beginners introduction into the fascinating world of the Raspberry Pi - As a complete beginner to the Raspberry Pi (although I do have previous experience at programming), I found this book an easy read and a great introduction into grasping the basics. It begins with some background to the Pi and then takes the reader quickly into getting started and the fundamentals of Linux and the command line. There are some good chapters that offer an insight into the potential of using the Pi in different applications, in fact the book covers quite a range of subjects without going into too much depth but sufficiently enough to give you confidence in taking the next steps. There are some good starter guides to programming and even controlling external hardware such as LEDs or switches. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is feeling somewhat overwhelmed at starting off with the Pi, it will encourage you to want to go further and learn programming. It's by no means a comprehensive reference or guide to programming in Python, but its a great introduction and definitely recommended. Review: Best Intro on the RPi Family - Probably the best intro book on getting started on the Raspberry Pi family of microcomputers. Well written by the creators so itโs very readable and easy to digest. One of my favourite technical books. Highly recommended. My only complaint is that the quality of the paper being used has gone down since the previous edition.

An good introduction
An easy to read and well written introduction to the Pi - useful for both beginners to computing and those with intermediate level knowledge. It won't give you all you need but it will at least help you know how to get started, and what questions to ask next. Interesting on the Pi history also. Just a little on the expensive side for the Pi's budget target - hence a 4 rather than 5

Brilliant book
This is honestly the only book you need if you're new to the pi as it covers everything and I was surprised it is still relevant to the older generations as well with only a few chapters that are beyond the earlier models... I believe this book is for pi3 and below but I think most if not all will apply to the newer ones but at this price its not bad to have a flick through either way

Three Stars
Okay for real beginers, but with the leaning curve with Raspberry Pi not needed.

I found this book really easy to follow and as an older person the average computing book assumes you just know things (which I don't). This book is basic enough for me to feel really confident in what I am doing, and it explains everything simply and logically. It goes into more advanced stuff as well and shown me what I need to do to get some of my more sophisticated ideas off the ground. Well done Eben.

A great introduction to the Pi
An excellent guide to get you started with the Raspberry Pi. It's well written with very few typos - I only noticed two. These days you could get all the information by trawling the internet, but when you're starting with something for the first time, there's nothing better than sitting down with a good old fashioned well written manual.

Good book to start with
Good book to start with, very helpful. Ebon is one of the guy's who had a hand in designing and developing the Raspberry Pi. Thanks to him my Pi 3 is up and running and going places, where as P1 was a disaster. I would recommend it now I have had a play.

Consegna e imballlo tempestivi come sempre

I am so grateful for this book. I bought it for the same reason that I buy most of my books: reading pleasure. I got the Pi with the intent of doing practical and useful things with it but also as a fun toy, a new hobby, something to learn with. And this book completes my fun starter kit, satisfying both the practical needs and the fun/learning part. It is well written with excellent intro material, including the history and philosophy behind the Pi. I have been using Linux for about 6 years now and have a technical background but even so, the intro stuff was nice to read. It also moves into more advanced topics, so it is much more useful than "Intro" or "Beginner" guides that focus just on getting you started. I am not finished with the book yet but I intend to read it cover-to-cover. It is that sort of book, rather than just a reference. I also got the more detailed Exploring book by Derek Molloy which is also excellent, and I recommend both these books the most (I have looked at others). However, I am less likely to read Derek Molloy's book entirely since it is a much more in-depth book and more like a text book (because that is one of the ways in which it is used). Also, some reviewers have complained about the figures in this book but I have the Kindle version and the figures are great. On a tablet they are in color and can be zoomed. So, I have no complaints and strongly recommend this as a first Pi book.

Well written book for n00bs. One probably doesn't need this if they know how to write basic Linux software and can "Google" online for the latest development information.
