Steelworx 22 LR Steel Snap Caps Dummy Rounds

These are awesome. They have been essential to testing the function of my .22 revolver and long rifles. Most rimfire owners know you cannot safely drive fire your equipment without risking damage to the firing pin. These give it a safe place to strike when doing repairs or practicing. They leave no residue like other snap caps. I have used the same one several times. I’m sure to get many uses out of them until I have to toss one. Only con is if you are using them in an old semi auto it can be a challenge to pull the charging handle back to eject the cap.

Good dummy rounds. Metal unlike others here. Great quality same dimensions as live rounds. Good price too.

Unfortunately they did not work. Extremely high quality, just a touch short and wouldn't feed in my AR-7. I bought them so I could practice quick magazine changes, charging, and clearing the rifle. But either it's due to the "lead" not being as wide in diameter or the slight difference in length? I actually couldn't get a single one to feed out of 24 and yes my rifle does feed normal rounds like a champ! I mean it's a Henry after all! I did a ton of research before I bought them, because I normally buy snapcaps. However, snapcaps are .22 short and ALL plastic(I assume due to not being able to add a spring mechanism to a rimfire) These seem to work wonderfully for everyone else. I'm just assuming they didn't feed due to the tight & striped down tolerances of the rifle. I docked them one star for this, I was going to just do 3* because it's dead center but I know that really hurts a product. And like I said build quality is amazing, they loaded into the magazine extremely easy, and have a similar weight profile(just by feel, I did not weigh them) So I would say they will probably work in everything else, but if you're buying them specifically for an AR-7 then they won't work.

22lr in semi auto pistol magazines can be tough. They're so small, and in a double stack they move around a lot and can cause FTF/FTE. I've tried some other 22lr snap caps which were HORRIBLE. Every single one failed to eject. These are awesome. My Steelworx 9mm caps are great, and these are too.

I was hoping to use these to safely demonstrate how my semi-auto 22lr guns cycle new rounds. These dummy rounds must be out of spec. First, a 10rd mag will become very stuck at around the 8rd mark. Problems with double-stack and single stack mags including Remington, Marlin or AR-7. Then, even if you try to manually cycle your gun with these snap caps in the mags, these will not feed, or chamber, or eject correctly. The only thing these particular snap caps are good for, is manually chambering a single round, and safely dry firing. This was a disappointment as I was more interested in the cycling/chambering and I don't want to demonstrate that with live rounds.

The QA inspection on these is not good. 2 out of the 10 caps caused my cylinder to jam on my Wrangler. Not gonna act like they're useless but maybe don't sell an item unless you're sure it works.

This product works very poorly with my new Tikka T1X .22 LR. It is virtually impossible to feed a round from the magazine into the chamber.

I've used these in my .22lr rifles and pistol for almost a year. I don't like to dry fire or the store with the hammer back. So these are brilliant.
