how cheap does this look?

I wouldn’t call this cheap. It’s well made and it looks great with my matching hardwood floors. Modern and stylish. Easy to put together.

Can they be separated or not

Dear customer, of course, they are two separate tables. One just fits under the other.

Are these recommended for outdoor use on a covered porch?

It's not weather proof as the top is made of formica or wood.....not stone or marble. If looking for outdoor side table use Christopher Knight 's side table on Amazon.

Where can I get directions for assembly?

I read where these tables were easy to put together, not so! I need some directions as there were none included when the tables arrived. Please send they electronically asap as they need to be put together before I return to the US
