The AK47 of Watches Comrades!
This is the AK47 of watches Comrades! Tough, reliable, and inaccurate. Honestly, it is a great looking watch and I expect to get many years of service out of it. So far it is maintaining good time, but we shall see how that holds up.

Really nice
I'll keep this review nice and sweet. What I like: - It's a very nice size for my smaller wrists. This may bug people who don't really like small watches and especially people with large wrists. - Lightweight piece because it's made out of painted brass. Again this may bother some who like a little bit of heft on their wrists. - Love the red star and tank design on the dial plus all of the Cyrillic writing. Really gives off the feeling like it's an exotic piece. - Hand-wind. I can totally understand why many dislike this but I personally love it. I think this quirk of the watch adds to the appeal of the design's original purpose as a field watch for Soviet era commanders. Plus it is a nice addition to the morning routine. - domed crystal. very very charming. - pretty accurate. I've seen a lot of reviews that say the ones they've gotten become inaccurate fast but I've had mine for a week now and it's keep excellent time. Dislike/kind of annoying: - While the crown is very unique, it is a little difficult to operate. No quick date function, so you have to wind all the way around or back and forth from the 10 and 2 positions. - the black leather strap it comes with is nice in that it is rough and I'm sure it will last a while, however it's not too comfortable nor very stylish. - while the design of the dial is charming, it does give off the appearance of being cheaply made. - you can definitely hear it tick away. In conclusion, I think you're getting this watch not for any special feature or movement but for it's history and uniqueness. I would highly recommend this watch for any enthusiast or collector. I hope this helps!

Cool looking watch, for a budget price
It's a cool timepiece. I tend to forget to rewind it regularly and have to set time every other day. If you can remember to wind it religiously daily you'll probably like it. Note: it does tend to run a little faster than earth time.

Great watch, I'm going to buy another!
This is a great watch, shipped straight from Russia. I'm thinking of buying a few more as gifts. Mine gains about two minutes a week. The enclosed instructions are all in Russian, so I had to do a Web search to figure out how to wind the watch (it has a stem cap that must be unscrewed before it can be pulled out), but once I got used to the idea, I wondered why all mechanical winding mechanisms don't have this feature. The winding stem pulls out to two positions, : the first is for winding, and the second for adjusting the time. The number in the date window is adjusted by winding past midnight to advance the date by one, then winding back to 8 p.m. and going forward again as many times as needed to get the right number. That's no problem as long as the watch is used daily, which in my case it is. Thanks!

Works
The watch is nice I got it for work nothing crazy but the band sucks the Buckle is super cheap I think it’s made from tin foil, if you want this watch plan on buying a different band!

Not reliable
Well, it lasted 8 months before it quit. I guess that is something. No need to try and get it repaired as a $75 watch just isn't worth it. I gave it two stars because it did run fairly well before it quit. I guess I didn't give it enough vodka and it let me down. At some point when I feel like messing with it, I will take the back off and see what I can see. Until then, it can live in my scrap watch box.

Awesome little field watch that doesn't not pretend to be anything it isn't.
Throw away the strap and add a nice zulu or nato to it, and you have yourself a very functional beater watch. Don't be fooled: the dial on this is looks like cheap cardboard. Do not expect some dark-horse high-end Orient Bambino or Seiko 5 killer. This is a mechanical watch made to have fun with, and enjoy owning for what it is: A very cheap, die-hard, tool with a nice story and well-deserved cult following. Would highly recommend this as a watch for your son if you want to get him into mechanical watches.
