Wool filled toppers are a better alternative to foam toppers or polyester filled toppers because wool toppers control body temperature, wicks away sweat keeping a human's body cool and dry, does not harbor dust mites, is safer (wool is fire resistant) and biodegrades. Wool will biodegrade when discarded at the end of its useful life whereas synthetics clutter landfills or oceans for a long time. Also, manufacturing of synthetics releases air pollutants. Foam toppers often contain fire retardants and other chemicals that off-gass and expose sleepers to toxins. Moreover, foam toppers, much like foam mattresses, retain body heat. Our toppers contain wool that has been minimally processed without the use of toxic chemicals. CARE: Dry clean if necessary, not machine washable. These toppers have a lot of wool and they will become very heavy if they get wet. If you try to machine wash or machine dry your topper you may damage your washer and dryer as well as ruin the topper. Wool batting will felt unevenly during tumble drying and will develop lumps. Recommended to rotate the mattress toppers few times a year to ensure even wear. Most stains can be removed with soap & water. Blood stains can be removed with white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide.
