Champion Sports Extended Throat Guard Adult Catcher's Mask, Black

I’m a bullpen and emergency catcher for my mens league baseball team, so I just wanted some cheap yet somewhat protective catchers gear that would get the job done. I ordered this mask because the price was right and I like the old school looks of the classic 2-piece catchers mask and skullcap combo so many great catchers both past and present rock on the reg. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the quality, comfort, and protectiveness of this mask. The pads are solid but squishy enough to still absorb shock well enough. They are covered in a leather like material. While it’s not a lightweight catchers mask, it’s also not cheaply made and can definitely help you survive the impact of a missed fastball to the dome or a potential wildly swung bat at your grill. Are you still with me? One modification I will make to this mask is swapping out the stock harness it came with and replacing it with an All-Star Delta Flex harness which I prefer. I also added a sun visor to the forehead part of the cage because it gets awfully sunny for my summer Sunday morning games. To sum it all up…If you are looking for a quality catchers mask at a good price and solid value then I would definitely recommend picking this catchers mask up. You’ll be glad you did.

Got the umpire mask for Halloween. I’m going to be Jen Pawol this year! It’s very nice. A little heavy, but it seems that would protect you in a game.

These are light weight 16 ounces and was a good price with the bigger discount but ok now with the price

Using this while drilling for close volleying with a high-paced pickleball throwing machine. Yeah, that's a little outside the design intent of this mask but it certainly prevents a costly dental reconstruction of my front teeth, at least until I get a lot better at blocking and returning fast shots. It is cheap insurance in the meantime, and builds up confidence handling balls that come at my face fast.

My oldest daughter is a club softball pitcher and I’m officially a bucket dad. As her pitching has become faster and she has learned new pitches I honestly do not always catch the ball. After taking a ball almost in the face (it bounced off the plate), this was a no brainer. A simple catchers mask that fits in a bag and is what I remember from when I player little league. Solid construction and a great value…perfect for fellow bucket dads!

My daughter is a softball pitcher and has been gaining a lot speed and throwing drop balls (so scary) that easily pop up right at your face. I knew it was time for some gear but didn't want the traditional catcher's mask and gear so I started with this. It does the job well and I have avoided the overwhelming catcher's mask for now, but it doesn't protect the back of your head and is much heavier than I expected. I gave it 5 stars though since it does what it's meant to do.

First off, it was comfortable when you try it on. All plush and what-not. But then when used a few times, that's when the concerns come. 1) It's heavy. Like, deceptively heavy. There are definitely lighter things out there, but when the straps are elastic and your face is pointing down, you'll feel the weight. 2) Chin WILL feel a face shot. You're wearing a mask to make sure you face doesn't get smashed in by a ball or bat or whatever. Be aware that any mask (regardless of style) that relies on the front chin pad to absorb the shock, your jaw WILL feel it. Headaches will happen. There are styles of masks out there that use more of your cheek than the front of the chin - those are much more comfortable when hit. 3) It's not 100% stable. It'll move around a bit and it's not as secure as I would have liked. Makes me nervous if I ever were to take a hit that wasn't straight-on. Any off-angle projectiles WILL move the mask. Also, any fast turning of the head will move the mask. 4) It's hard to talk with it on. If you're trying to communicate with players (especially coaching) the pad does kinda get it the way. Annoying. So, shopper beware. This is probably a great mask for those people who are used to them or want something simple for like coaching little league, but if you're gonna be in a more competitive environment, stick with something that is lighter, more stable and designed for redirecting the force of impact that is comfortable for you. A good test - put on the mask and literally hit your chin. If your jaw moves back and it hurts, then don't buy it.

The mask is great, a touch small for me but still ok. Solid, strong construction. Elastic seems a little light and may need to be replaced earlier than other brands but not a major.

I bought 3 sets(mask, shin guards,chest protector) for beginner umpires to use until they decide if they are going to continue umpiring. At that point they can buy their own

Came quick but straps are long so it’s made for a big head !!! But love the mask !!
