I loved my Cygolite Velocity 1600 so much that I bought the 800 lumen model as well. They feature the same battery, so the 800 lumen model just has longer battery life. These lights are fairly small, but feel very substantial in your hand. I mounted mine with a GoPro mount to get it out in front of the road bike handlebar. The four indicator lights in the back let you know exactly how much battery life you have remaining. They last so long, you almost forget to charge them. The brightness, ease of use, solid mounting, and durability make them a tremendous value for your money. After trying a bunch of different brands, I now use Cygolite headlights and tail lights exclusively. They are an amazing company with a great product line.

I've ridden about 15,000 miles in the last 5 or 6 years. During this time, I've owned many different lights. This one is my favorite. The reason is the daylight flashing mode. It draws great attention from drivers, and it lasts for hours and hours and hours between recharge. The negatives are minor, but keep me from giving it 5 stars. First, the battery charge left indicator is very difficult to see and interpret. My brother has a light from a different company that simply says how many hours and minutes are left -- much better. Second, the controls are confusing and not explained on the website (maybe they have fixed it?). Once you throw away the box, if you forget the tricky controls, then you can't get it into daylight flashing mode again. Finally, I've had multiple Cygolites. They don't have replaceable batteries. That means you have to throw them away every 3 years or so, instead of just replacing a simple battery. That is very wasteful and hurtful to our planet. Not a huge deal, but it would have been easy for Cygolite to change the design to be more respectful of Mother Earth.

Bought this mainly for daytime riding to alert cars. It is outstanding! I have seen so many cars start to pull out in front of me and stop as soon as they see the flashing light. The beam range shines far and performs exceptionally well. Great purchase!
