Easy to use
I’ve had 2 of these over the years, my first one lasted me almost a decade. It makes it extremely easy to take your own measurements and it’s easy to read. Highly recommend!

LOVE!!!
My teacher had a standard tape measure and it always grossed me out when it would hit the floor between body measure & then she'd put it in her mouth to hold... I bought this and it's AWESOME! I've used it for many months to do body measurements on many boot campers and it's great... anyone with issues is not using it correctly. It's easy to pull out, fits even very large chests and is quick and easy to retract. The only thing I'd suggest is make sure you control it or have fingers out of the way because it comes back like a tool tape measure! :) As to those who have particular complaints, let me detail: Some complain that the tape doesn't start at zero... That's to compensate for the part of the frame that goes against the body, which is roughly 2" Some have compalined that the tape isn't attached fully to the pin and ultimately separates... That's apparently a rare defect and there is NO product out there that has 100% accuracy in manufacturing. Look when you get yours - if you notice anything like that, exchange it. Some complain that the pin doesn't fit snugly into the slot and, therefore, constantly pops out... Two things here... it shouldn't fit "snugly" or it would negate the quick release... if it REALLY bothers you, put a piece or two of Scotch tape around the head and it will fit more snugly. I wouldn't recommend it, though, again because of the quick release nature. Secondly, if the head is popping out, it's because you don't have it flush/straight and won't get an accurate measurement anyway. Some complain about clicking or non-clicking and the ratcheting of the tape itself. It's supposed to do that. It's a "RETRACTABLE" tape measure... so it will come out to the point you need, you put the pin in, press the button to retract while the pin is in the hole, record your measurement, take it off, and then press the button to retract the tape. Easy peasy. HUGE PLUS: The tape, when pinned around a body part being measured, once you press the button to "tighten", will stay put and just hang there until you take the pin out. Handy if you're measuring yourself and need to record and are forgetful like me! I have used this tape for body measurements on roughly 10-15 boot campers twice every 6 weeks since August 2012. I have gotten accurate measurements and had no problems with the pin coming off, the pin popping out except when I had it wompy-jawed and it popped out because it was uneven, or any other issues... it works just as it should if you read the directions and use it accordingly.

despite minor flaw, better than digital tape measure it replaced
For the price, this is a real nice tape measure and better than the digital "Health O Meter HDTM012DQ-69 Digital Tape Measure" which this one is replacing when it broke. First of all, the Mayo tape measure has1/8" divisions, as opposed to the 1/10th inch increment divisions with the digital one mentioned above. Next, this one you can measure the body part you choose in the order you want, instead of the "Health O Meter HDTM012DQ-69 Digital Tape Measure" which has preset body areas to choose from which might sound convenient; until you find yourself having to click past the body areas you are not interested in measuring to get to the areas you want. Although I just purchased this item, the only minor flaw I can find in it is that it detaches too easily, which is the only reason I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars. I'm sure it was designed this way for effortless one hand attaching of the tape measure to itself, however, having it too loose, makes for a bit of an annoyance to hold the pin in the hole while also pushing the button to retract the tape to the body. If they either made it just slightly snugger or the pin had a less slippery material like rubber, or similar material it would be probably be enough to hold it in place better. Except for this one flaw, this is a nice tape measure that is worth buying to give a better gage of one's progress than only using the scale which does not differentiate between fat and muscle weight. Thus one can lose fat but gain muscle resulting in small loss in weight, and be discouraged. Or also measure themselves and see they've lost inches in their waist despite the scale showing minimal loss in overall weight. In updating this review, there are two items that cancels each other out, as the 4 out of 5 stars stays the same, but is worth noting just the same. Although the pin could still be a touch larger so it stays in the hole better, I purchased another tape measure when the tape tore off the pin, and that tape measure is too tight a fit, where after only a few uses the tape is already tearing from the pin. So although the pin could be a bit more snug fit, having it too snug can cause problems as well. Also comparing this measuring tape to the other one, GNC brand, the Myotape is better as it has 1/16th inch divisions, where the GNC version only had 1/8th inch divisions. For one's waist or stomach the change may not require such a small incremental change, but for muscle tracking, having the 1/16th increment can be very helpful as the muscle can take a bit longer to see 1/8" change then change in your stomach from losing fat.

I’ve had mine for 16 years!
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a body measuring tape. It’s easy to use, accurate, and durable. The numbers/markings are easy to read. I was just shopping to replace mine, because the end piece came off the end of the tape, so I can’t lock it in anymore. I searched for the same one, since I knew I’d had it for several years. It shows my ‘last purchase date’ in 2010, so I’ve had it for 16 years! And I could probably just superglue that end piece back together if I needed this to last longer - the tape itself and the self-retraction still work fine! Either way, this product deserves a good review, so I wanted stop and pop in the 5 stars! 😊

Accurate, easy, simple tool for tracking progress
In short, I love this product. I previously had been only relying on my scale and it's fairly inaccurate body fat percentage, to track my weight-loss progress. As a serious fat-cutter (now down almost 60 pounds), I know that one key 'golden nugget', is you have to track your progress using several measurements, not just the scale, so that you can see, over time, what is working, and what is not working. If you are where I was, then you might be deciding between a simple soft measuring tape, a Myotape, and/or Calipers. Well, forget the soft measuring tape, for one reason: The myo-tape is self-cinching, which means, you click a button, and it gently tightens around your waist/chest/thigh/arm, whatever, at exactly the same tension, every single time. This means, accurate measurement. If you use a soft tape, and just pull it together yourself, it just simply won't be as accurate. And the Myotape is so affordable, why wouldn't you use the right tool for the right job? Your other choice is a caliper, and while I'm not opposed to using a Caliper, it is just simply not as convenient, as a myotape, if you are self-measuring. Calipers have their advantages also, and I believe you can buy a Myotape/caliper combo. So, it's up to you. But for me, I pick the myotape and the scale as my go-to, and that's really all I need. I measure weight, bodyfat % with the scale, then the myotape gives me my chest, waist, arms, and thighs, and then, I track those over the course of weeks to months. Works for me. I would recommend, whether you are using a myotape, and/or a caliper, just pick the measurements that you want to stick with, maybe no more than 7, and just stick with those, and be consistent. That's your scorecard. They will paint you a picture that you need in order to achieve your goals. In any event, the Myotape came highly recommended to me by a reliable personal trainer and champion bodybuilder. She said, straight up, buy the Myotape, and so I did. I'm happy I did. You will be too. Hope that helps.

Great for Tracking Weight Loss
One challenge we have when we lose weight is that sometimes it might look like we've hit a plateau. Really, this usually means the body is slimming down but as we convert from fat to muscle we aren't "loosing weight" at the moment. A tape measure can help show this! I've used several different kinds of tape measures in the past. Usually the problem is you're trying to hold the two ends of the tape measure in place while figuring out what they say. Often I have to call in my boyfriend to help out. For a variety of reasons there are many people who cannot or do not want help in this area :) That's where the MyoTape tape measure comes in. I actually got this for myself solely because I had lost my old tape measures and needed one, and it was the top result on Amazon and looked easy to use. So I wasn't out seeking a "new and improved" tape measure. That being said, when I got this in the house I was really impressed that it WAS much easier to use than my previous ones. You hold the handle, which is nice and solid and well shaped to grab onto. Then if you want you can "make the loop" and step into it, or pull the loose end around, depending on what part of you you are measuring. But the nice thing is you can keep everything loose while you get it into place. Once you are close to where you want it to be, you push the button on the unit and it automatically snugs up. So you don't have to try to hold it in a certain spot or try to make sure you're holding it "tightly enough" or "loose enough". It always snugs up to the same level of tension. You only need to hold with one hand because the unit has connected into its closed loop. This means it's VERY easy to then look at the numbers and see what the total measurement is. You don't have to add or subtract - the unit is set up so that the number you see is the total number. Well recommended! There are ALL sorts of situations where you "seem to be not losing weight" but really your body is getting slimmer. This is a great way to keep track of your progress!

Makes measuring around your arms much easier!
After being advised by my PT to take regular photos and measure my upper arms, thighs, hips and waist every week to show non-scale weight loss progress, I did a lot of research into tapes that would be durable, portable (I travel a lot) and would make the whole measurement process quick and easy. I've been using Myotape alongside an iPhone app called Bodytrack.it for 3 years now, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Not only does the hook-around feature on the tape ensure you're consistent with your readings, but it negates all the faff associated with trying to measure your biceps one-handed! I've reached my target now but I still take it all around the world with me and as long as I keep on measuring and logging my results and photos on the app, I know I won't go too far off track. Durability-wise it has been excellent, although I have had to order a new one as the nobble has just come off the end of tape. However, seeing as it has been used every week - and sometimes on a daily basis - for 3 years, I think that's more than acceptable. Top marks all round.

muy util
Aunque puede parecer una tontería este tipo de cinta métrica hace medir los perímetros corporales mucho más sencillo. Ideal para controlar progresos en entrenamientos.
