If you're trying to protect your Oreo stash from the toddlers, then this will work just fine on a kitchen cabinet door. On the other hand, if you seriously want a supplemental lock for an exterior door on your home to prevent unwanted entry you must choose another product. The metal is thin. The provided fastener screws are short and tiny making them useless. The lock itself is quite small. Overall, I think it's an expensive item for what you get. Bottom line: This is just not a substantial lock and I find it ineffective from the standpoint of security purposes. On the other hand, if you want the lock for an interior door or cabinet it will likely work for you after you replace the fasteners with better hardware.

Very cheap screws. Go to the hardware store and get different screws before they break off into your door.
